Here is a method for all Debian-based distros: 1.In order to do so, I ran the below command: sudo apt-get purge openoffice*.* & sudo apt-get purge openoffice-*.* yum i.e. I am an Ubuntu user and I had to remove both the basic packages and the core packages of Open Office. Open a terminal, type in the following command and follow the on-screen instructions: sudo aptitude purge If you don't already have the aptitude package installed, you can do so by: sudo apt-get install aptitude. On the Mac, just drag the OOo icon from the Application folder to the Trash icon. If you installed OpenOffice through another method (an RPM, or a Debian package), using the appropriate package removal tool is best. On Windows, you can use the Add/Remove Programs option in the Control Panel.
